Four local business executives will be inducted into the Greater Richmond Business Hall of Fame in May.
The four join 101 other business leaders who have been inducted into the program since it was established in 1988. Inductees are chosen for their contributions to business in the Richmond area.
The program is sponsored by Junior Achievement of Central Virginia. The ceremony and banquet will be held at The Jefferson Hotel on May 18.
The 2016 inductees are:
- Ting Xu
- is co-founder, chairwoman and former president of Evergreen Enterprises Inc., the global home decor business that she started in 1993 by making garden flags out of her garage in Henrico County. The Richmond-based company is a home decor wholesale and retail enterprise. It has acquired other related businesses, including Plow & Hearth, where she is CEO; VivaTerra, a high-end, eco-friendly home decor catalog and online business; and Children’s Wear Digest Inc., an online and catalog retailer of children’s apparel.
- Frank Qiu
- is CEO of Evergreen Enterprises, the company he co-founded with his wife, Xu. Qiu has been CEO since 1995. The family’s businesses employ about 1,300 people in Richmond and abroad. The Evergreen Enterprises business designs, manufactures and distributes more than 10,000 home decor, sports and garden products and accessories.
- P.C. Amin
- is the co-founder and chairman of Chester-based Shamin Hotels, the region’s largest hotel operator. Amin had immigrated to the U.S. from India and was working as an engineer for the Virginia Department of Transportation when in 1979 he and his brother-in-law, B.N. Shah, bought a struggling 104-room hotel in Lumberton, N.C. The company now operates nearly 50 locations in Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina and Florida, with 34 in the Richmond region.
- Marilyn H. West
- is founder, chairwoman and CEO of M.H. West & Co., the management planning and consulting firm she started about 25 years ago. Her company works with federal, state and local government agencies and quasi–government agencies, not-for-profit organizations, medical care entities, school systems, trade associations and companies.
